Late Autumn / Film / Color

In late autumn, I wanted to try a couple of “new” film cameras and some films I hadn’t used previously.

First up, the one and only Zorki-4, a Soviet range finder from the 1950s that was based on German 1930s technology, coupled with a Jupyter-8 50mm/f2. For this combination, I wanted to try Kodak Colorplus 200, which supposedly gives a very retro film look. I was not disappointed. Pictures are taken around Vienna and Upper Austria.

Next, my trusty Minolta X-700 with the amazing MD Rokkor 35-70mm/f3.5. I used this combination, which I had already tested previously, to see how I like Kodak Vision 3 250D re-spooled to 135 by Otterfilm, a motion picture film that was e.g. used in Star Wars, James Bond and Inception. Right off the scan, the film lacks a tiny bit of contrast and saturation, which can easily be fixed in post. I love the tonality and how it handles highlights. Pictures are taken around Lower and Upper Austria.

Last but not least, the same camera and lens combination as before, but this time trying Kodak Ultramax 400 for the first time. Initially when seeing the scans, I wasn’t super impressed, but the more I look at them, the more I like them. I think I will be using this film again in the future.
