In an attempt not to spend too much money, I bought a used Flexaret V, a camera manufactured in Czechoslovakia between 1939 – 1971. My particular copy is roughly 65 years old and in reasonable condition given its age. The first time I used this camera was my first time shooting a medium-format or twin-lens reflect camera and needless to say, I struggled loading the film. After a few tries and a few botched exposures, I was good to go. I tested it out in my neighbourhood and was surprised how smooth the operation was, once you knew this model’s particular quirks. The focusing screen is the opposite of bright – I might have to replace this is in the future – and I might have used too slow shutter speeds! As a result, many pictures aren’t in focus.
Below is a non-curated overview of all the pictures taken with this camera.
